When writing, do not compare your rough draft to “rough drafts” you’ve seen elsewhere, be they early versions of a script or demo versions of a song. Before any artist shows the outside world anything they’ve done, it’s already gone through several (sometimes tens) (sometimes hundreds) of drafts. Your first draft is no worse than anyone else’s. Write, then rewrite.
